Renée means “reborn” in French. I’m not exactly sure where I first came across this word, but ever since I did, it stayed in my heart—like I always wanted to name something of my own with it. And today, that day has finally come. After searching endlessly, I finally managed to secure a domain with the same name, thanks to OVH.

The idea of starting this project came to me months ago, but due to a lack of time, it took me a long while to at least bring its foundation to life the way I wanted. Most of the work was done late at night after my office shifts, handling everything from the front end to the backend, managing databases, and fixing hundreds of bugs. It was tedious to do all this with my tiny laptop, but the joy of creating something on my own, for the people, for the world, kept me going.

Why Renée GPT? That’s a good question, actually. To be honest, I started this from scratch purely out of passion for artificial intelligence and large language models. I’ve always been fascinated by how they respond, how they react. So in a way, this is also a journey to uncover the mysteries that remain unanswered. I strongly believe that the next major leap for humanity will be powered by artificial intelligence—there’s no doubt about that. And if, as a little human, I can contribute even a little, I’d consider my life meaningful.

Now, coming to the point—the website is currently in its beta stage. I’m well aware that there are many bugs, and I need to keep implementing features and fixing issues over time. I will do as much as I can. As of now, I’ve launched it as a multimodal support platform using API keys, meaning you can chat like ChatGPT, but only after saving an API key to the database. However, I assure you that I’ve done my best to encrypt and securely store the API keys. Currently, it supports Gemini and Mistral models, but in the future, I plan to build my own model and replace the existing ones. That will take time, of course everyone knows how much computational power is required to train a model on such a vast amount of data, especially when working alone on a single project. But who knows? Maybe in the future, Renée will expand.

I’d like to outline both my short-term and long-term goals:

Short-term goals:

  • Implement an email verification system during registration
  • Add a “Forgot Password” option
  • Make the website fully responsive and mobile-friendly
  • Implement Server-Sent Events (SSE) to display live responses from the backend instead of waiting for the entire reply

Long-term goals:

  • Develop our own LLM model
  • Implement 2FA for better security
  • Introduce load balancing and caching
  • Enhance overall performance

With all that said, I’m truly happy and proud to celebrate my creation’s first official birthday.

Happy Birthday, Renée! 🎉
